Beekeeping

The NSW Apiarists Association (NSWAA) is the expert in all things beekeeping-related, including where to buy apiary equipment, where to find queen bees, how to harvest honey, and how not to get stung. The Sydney branch led by President Eric Whitby meets at 7.30pm on the first Tuesday of every second month (i.e. February, April, June, August, October, December 2008).

Knifemaking

The Australian Knife Collectors Club (AKC) caters to Australian knifemakers, restorers and collectors, supplying them with equipment, literature, registration, and a forum for sharing their skills and experience with fellow craftspeople. AKC principal Keith Spencer is available to link novice knifemakers with willing instructors in the Sydney area.

Baking

Short of undertaking a formal baking apprenticeship at TAFE, Sydneysiders keen to develop their artisan baking skills can visit Beatrice Levanti at the prestigious French Gourmet Academy at Balmoral Beach, Mosman. The Academy will hold it's next baking class on Sunday 20 July.
