Operating from her own home, Luciana Sampogna teaches Italian cooking classes with rustic recipes drawn from all over Italy. Groups of around 20 people sit rapt and bedazzled around a large dinner table as Sampogna chops, sautés, seasons, sears and zealously stirs oversized pots while dispensing pearls of culinary wisdom (i.e. lots of salt, save the pasta water). And while the experience could be even better with more intimate groups, it all pales before Sampogna's omespun charisma and the mouth-watering moments where everyone wolfs down the food as they go. Take a bottle of winbe to make a night of it.
