Dog friendly parks

City

Victoria Park, Broadway. Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore is barking mad about the dearth of dog parks. This one near Glebe Point Road is leash-free 6pm–9am and leashed dog walking is permitted at all other times.

Sydney Park, St Peters. Built on a huge section of waste ground behind what was once Sydney’s largest brick kilns – of which the chimneys and ovens still remain – Sydney Park is the perfect dog utopia.

Hawthorne Canal Park Reserve, Leichhardt This popular dog park has plenty of space for canine shenanigans, plus you can work on your dog’s obedience issues at the regular Sunday morning dog classes and there’s a café offering dog treats.

West

Bicentennial Park, Homebush. Stretch your pooch’s legs while taking in Homebush Bay and environs, including the old Armoury and the Olympic Park.

North

Sirius Cove, Mosman. A rare one indeed – a stretch of sand that permits dog frolics and there’s BBQ and playground facilities if you want to make a day of it.

South

RTA Reserve, Rockdale. A nice quiet spot to take dogs for a romp, with bins, big stretches of grass and lots of other dogs for them to play with.
