Daedelus - Love to make music to

Since 2002 Daedelus has released an album, sometimes two, a year, each revealing an interesting aspect of electronica that didn't seem possible before. His eighth album continues to tread the fine line between order and chaos, blending together samples, beats and synths on a swirling sonic canvas.

This is what makes Daedelus' music great - hearing the song coalesce out of disparate noise until you can't help but tap your feet. Hrs:Mins:Secs makes the skin crawl like an Aphex Twin song, until finally a dancehall beat rises from the murk. Get Off Your HiHats channels neo-disco, with its repeated piano sample and conga percussion, while Touchtone feels like something Pharrell Williams would produce if loaded on smart drugs.

This is not light, feathery pop music. Daedalus makes music with his mind as well as his heart and these tracks may seem impenetrable to people unfamiliar with his eclectic style. However, the effort of repeated listens will grant you access to an album, and an artist, of immense depth.
