2008 DIVA Awards Media Launch
A normally low key Monday lunch hour at The Stone Wall Hotel was literally dragged into festive mode today with the official launch of the 2008 DIVA awards and poster unveiling.
Time Out Sydney was front and centre to witness the DIVA's official launch and artwork unveiling by Master of ceremonies and Aussie rock legend Jimmy Barnes. The long time supporter of gay and lesbian events was joined by this years DIVA hosts, Portia Turbo and Candy Box, where the three personalities placed their full support behind the event scheduled for August 18. The former Cold Chisel front man posed casually alongside drag identities including Charisma Belle and Transsexual Penthouse Pet Julia Sommers.
Upon the unveiling of this years DIVA poster Barnes was quick to admit that despite having examined the poster closely he still had failed to take away any fashion tips from the glamorous imagery within. That's fine by us, we don't want our gay lovin'Barnsey metro-sexually made over anyhow. We think he looks just fine with a three-day growth.
The DIVAs continue their launch celebrations tonight, Monday 21 July, at The Stone Wall Hotel, Oxford Street Darlinghurst with the official event scheduled for August 18 at The Paddington Town Hall.
