Who is SHE?

SHE's all about house music, class and good times. Brooke Salisbury explains a night devoted to tunes at the Trademark Hotel.

Who is SHE?

There ain't no party like a long weekend party: just ask the folk at SHE. The Soulful House Experience is the perfect crime, taking full advantage of the Queens Birthday holiday. The party boasts an attractive line-up featuring America's house kings the Groove Junkies and the queen of soul, UK's funky Elisabeth Troy.

After a ten-year tango with Hed Kandi and Housexy the Junkies are ready to blow the roof off with their feted house tunes. They've collaborated with the best and have a stellar record as producers, remixers and Djs. Troy on the other hand has earned a name for herself as a legendary disco darling and will put a spin on all of her classics when she performs live on the night. Her vocal styles fuse funk, soul and a dash of jazz, but she's got the groove too: her sassy afro tells you that much.

They've done their best to round up the best of Sydney's house crop including veteran femme Kate Munroe, local prodigy Alex Taylor and Adam Jacobs. SHE's very own Liam Sampras, Dave 54 and Nick Vidal will take on the decks spinning everything from uplifting house to dirty electro, just the way Sydney likes it.

They don't stop at music though; SHE is about luxury. The event's taking place at the decadent Trademark Hotel, a venue renowned for it's retro-glam fusion with contemporary European touches. The sweeping marble staircase spells old school charm, while whispers of gold and Italian décor don't deny the club's notable prestige. If you feel like you've outgrown the hoards of fluorescent, lycra-clad tweens roaming town, warm yourself to the SHE brand: a mature party with a playful twist.

SHE is all about sophisticated house grooves in comfortable surrounds. Far from their dark, cramped Kings Cross contemporaries, the parties are about class, champagne and classic house music. Or beer if it takes your fancy, though you might feel out of place with a VB in this palace.

SHE casts a spell on the Trademark Hotel, Kings Cross this Sun 8 June with doors set to open at 5pm and close again 12 hours later. (That's a lot of time to get your party on, readers). Tickets are $20(+bf)
