Sydney's Top 5 Wine Bars

Shop & Wine Bar
A great daily selection of wines by the glass as well as half bottles and a little snack on arrival means plenty of choice as well as being good value for money. Take a punt and try their ‘mystery wine'.
78 Curlewis St, Bondi 2026. (02 9365 2600).

Verandah
Restaurant by day, tapas and wine bar by night. The selection here ranges from mid-price Aussie varietals to some lofty frog drops and busty Spanish reds. Dimly lit and well padded, better to find yourself a table in the colder winter months, rather than shiver on a, er, verandah.
60 Castlereagh St ?Sydney 2000. (02 9238 0888).

Delicado
Inside or out, this traditional tapas-slash-wine bar is a dark little treasure trove of treats of the grape. Sommelier Ben Moechtar also heads up the Australian Sommelier's Association so you can rest assured you're in safe hands when it comes to the vino.
Shop 2, 134 Blues Point Rd ?McMahons Point 2060. (02 9955 9399).

Vini
Andrew Cibej started out with a wine bar that seated 20 people. He then expanded to a shipping container off the side and failing that, bought the café next door and is still having to turn people away. And yes, it's worth it - the all-Italian wine selection is the diggity.
3/118 Devonshire St Surry Hills, 2010. (02 9698 5131)

3 Weeds
Sink into one of the fat leather armchairs with a fat glass of red and piece of fat pizza. There are cocktails too, but you wouldn't want to miss out on some of the more exciting drops they have on offer here. Phat.
197 Evans St Rozelle, 2039. (02 9818 2788).
